My name is Kathryn Holeman and I am an illustrator and graphic designer specializing in the creation of Tudor-themed home decor, accessories, and coloring books.
It was quite a challenge to narrow the list of included Tudor people to a single card deck and then figure out their order and house. Henry VIII remains King throughout, and different portraits of Elizabeth I make up all four Aces. In card games, Aces are often surprising, game-changing events, and so I thought it appropriate to use the different portraits of Elizabeth I, the daughter of Anne Boleyn who went from succession afterthought to England’s greatest monarch, for the four Ace cards in this deck. See photos for more details.
