54 colorful playing cards featuring uniquely hand-drawn portraits of people and places from Tudor history.
This poker-sized deck includes 54 cards (52 house cards and 2 jokers). Each of the 40 unique illustrations are completely original to this deck and hand-drawn by me. Each deck is packed within a stunning gold-foiled tuck box. The design of the box features Tudor era pattern work and of course, the Tudor Rose.
Get ready to play some games and teach your friends a little Tudor history at the same time! Maybe Poker or perhaps its ancestor Primero, the most fashionable card game during the Tudor and Renaissance periods.
It was quite a challenge to narrow the list of included Tudor people to a single card deck and then figure out their order and house. Henry VIII remains King throughout, and different portraits of Elizabeth I make up all four Aces. In card games, Aces are often surprising, game-changing events, and so I thought it appropriate to use the different portraits of Elizabeth I, the daughter of Anne Boleyn who went from succession afterthought to England’s greatest monarch, for the four Ace cards in this deck.
